It begins with a flash of blinding light.

No matter what they’re doing, the light is so stunning that they pause to shield their eyes. Logically, it seems like such a bright light would hurt their eyes, and yet somehow, it’s not painful at all. It’s strange, but stranger still, a moment later, the ground underneath them is gone. They’re falling, and it feels like they’re falling for a long time as their eyes adjust after that light.

Yet, it’s not long at all—they’re only falling five feet or so. But as they, and others, appear in the air, there’s a shriek of alarm.

“Beryl—Go!!”

A man’s voice shouts after the scream, and as their eyes adjust, they’ll see two blurry figures, the woman running away while the man briefly stands his ground with a dagger raised before he takes advantage of the confusion to flee as well and cover her. You, and all of the other disoriented strangers, have been left alone. There might be a few bruises from the fall, but otherwise, there are no new injuries. It’s a strange lobby, but nothing about it seems helpful to reveal where you are. Following the two figures is fruitless too, since the door at the end of that hallway is sealed shut with magic—no one will be able to pass through.

So, just where are you?

[She looks back over her shoulder at him and tilts her head slowly] ...You really believe you're...I'm sorry--that's rude. I didn't mean, I've just...I really shouldn't be so skeptical in this sort of stiuation. [She bows an apology and speaks softly] It's such a lot to take in.

[vytis]

Even people at home don't always believe us when we introduce ourselves as nations. [Lithuania's smile is understanding, at least.] Usually not until they see evidence--photographs where we never seem to get older, being identified as a soldier in an old war, that sort of thing.

[ourparadise]

It...just seems complicated. [Complicated, incredible in the real meaning of the word. Impossible except it seems rude to say that as well] I suppose without such evidence I'll have to take you at your word. Oh--there's another guild. [She takes a few steps down the street, slightly embarrassed to show how overwhelmed and out of her element she feels]

[vytis]

Oh--maybe this one will suit you better? [Lithuania follows.] One step at a time is probably the best way to take--well, everything here.

[ourparadise]

Perhaps...Just a moment. [She takes a moment to speak with those standing near the guild and her face visibly relaxes. She takes a deep breath] This is the guild for merchants and scholars. No fighting required. [Little smile]

[vytis]

Do you think those would suit you? [Lithuania smiles, looking the guild over curiously.] I was never much good at sales myself.

[ourparadise]

Well...I've never really tried. [She laughs shyly] I might be alright at it?

[vytis]

It's all about presentation, right? That's what they say, anyway... [Lithuania was way too straightforward, this might have been the problem.] Shall I let you get acquainted with the guild?

[ourparadise]

I think I could do that. If not, I'll simply have to learn...Thank you for your help...Lithuania. [She bows in thanks] If you'd like--you should probably head back to your guild.

[There's a tiny pause and she seems like she's going to say something but she doesn't]

[vytis]

I enjoyed talking with you, Miss Izaki. [Lithuania smiles.] Maybe we'll see each other around the city again? Our guilds aren't really that far apart.

[ourparadise]

I'm sure we will. It's just a few steps down--and we should probably keep in touch. Us new people.

[vytis]

[Lithuania nods.] It seems like we're mostly all going to have to look out for ourselves and each other. If there's anything else I can do to help you, don't hesitate to ask.

[ourparadise]

I won't, thank you very much for everything. [Another bow and she disappears inside]
