It begins with a flash of blinding light.

No matter what they’re doing, the light is so stunning that they pause to shield their eyes. Logically, it seems like such a bright light would hurt their eyes, and yet somehow, it’s not painful at all. It’s strange, but stranger still, a moment later, the ground underneath them is gone. They’re falling, and it feels like they’re falling for a long time as their eyes adjust after that light.

Yet, it’s not long at all—they’re only falling five feet or so. But as they, and others, appear in the air, there’s a shriek of alarm.

“Beryl—Go!!”

A man’s voice shouts after the scream, and as their eyes adjust, they’ll see two blurry figures, the woman running away while the man briefly stands his ground with a dagger raised before he takes advantage of the confusion to flee as well and cover her. You, and all of the other disoriented strangers, have been left alone. There might be a few bruises from the fall, but otherwise, there are no new injuries. It’s a strange lobby, but nothing about it seems helpful to reveal where you are. Following the two figures is fruitless too, since the door at the end of that hallway is sealed shut with magic—no one will be able to pass through.

So, just where are you?

Well I'm afraid I don't know where to start getting us lost.

[vytis]

We could start here, then. [Lithuania looks around a little.] Well, you wouldn't want Seven Titans, at least. But this area is pretty busy, so maybe there's somewhere else that would suit you.

[ourparadise]

I feel I'd do badly in a fighter's guild. No strength. [She smiles and shrugs, picking a direction in random to start walking. Or trying in this crowd]

[vytis]

From what I've seen, at least, most new recruits are young teenagers who don't have much skill. [Lithuania follows along, trying to brush through the crowd to keep up.] I'm Lithuania, by the way.

[ourparadise]

Well I'm not a teenager any longer, but not much skill I can provide. [She pauses to let him catch up and smiles, bowing her head slightly] Koharu Izaki--...pardon...?

[vytis]

Ah? [Lithuania looks confused for a moment, before he realizes.] Lithuania, Miss Izaki. You've heard of the country? [Since her reaction seems a bit surprised.]

[ourparadise]

...[She seems hesitant at first, maybe it's a coincidence] Well, yes, in passing. It's on the other side of the world but I've heard of it? ...[There's another pause as she tries to gauge if the polite she's just met is victim of an unfortunate naming choice or crazy]

[vytis]

[Lithuania has seen that look before--and, given they're in a weird new place apparently by magic, he'd rather not seem entirely insane.] If you'd prefer, you can call me Tolys Laurinaitis, Miss Izaki.

[It's not confirming or denying anything about being Lithuania, at least for the moment.]

[ourparadise]

[She looks ahead and then shakes her head and looks at him with a rather pointed look.] Well what would you prefer?

[vytis]

Well-- [Lithuania hesitates.] Lithuania is my real name. But I understand why some people find it odd to refer to me that way.

[ourparadise]

Then I'll call you that. My feelings on the matter shouldn't change what you would prefer to be called. [She just bows her head again and takes a few steps forward, hesitating to see if he'll follow. He seems too aware of this to be crazy and she's appeared in a place by magic. She's willing to let him call himself whatever he likes]

[vytis]

Alright. [Lithuania continues to follow along. He can't blame someone who's never been introduced to the concept of nations as people reacting this way.] It makes it easy to remember where I'm from, though. Where are you from?

[ourparadise]

Well I'm from Japan...I was on my way back to Tokyo after a wedding when all...[A little helpless gesture of her hands around her] This happened. And no one's heard of Japan. And I suspect I just don't fit in--It does seem very oriented towards training people for, well, battles?

[vytis]

I've heard of Japan, at least. As for this place--I've participated in a few battles before, so I suppose I have a bit of a leg up. It's not exactly what I've spent time doing recently, though.

[ourparadise]

...Well I suppose you'll fit in better then. I was just a waitress. [She tucks her hair back and sighs softly to herself. Even if this man isn't Lithuania, he thinks he is, and so far it seems most everyone she's met seems slightly more suited in some way]

Sora should have been grabbed, she's the one with dreams of being a knight. You really don't have to do this, you know?

[vytis]

It wouldn't be proper for me to just leave you hoping to find somewhere to stay. Besides, I'm more or less an office worker now.

[ourparadise]

It wouldn't be proper of me to drag along an innocent person on my quest to find a place where I don't have to fight or things.

[She takes a peek down one side road and hums] An office worker?...But you said you'd fought before. [And a nation. She thinks. Pick a thing to be Lithuania]

[vytis]

[Lithuania checks for signs--and anything else that might signal they were approaching a guild.] In the past I've had to fight, but mostly I just do government work now.

[ourparadise]

[She looks back over her shoulder at him and tilts her head slowly] ...You really believe you're...I'm sorry--that's rude. I didn't mean, I've just...I really shouldn't be so skeptical in this sort of stiuation. [She bows an apology and speaks softly] It's such a lot to take in.

[vytis]

Even people at home don't always believe us when we introduce ourselves as nations. [Lithuania's smile is understanding, at least.] Usually not until they see evidence--photographs where we never seem to get older, being identified as a soldier in an old war, that sort of thing.

[ourparadise]

It...just seems complicated. [Complicated, incredible in the real meaning of the word. Impossible except it seems rude to say that as well] I suppose without such evidence I'll have to take you at your word. Oh--there's another guild. [She takes a few steps down the street, slightly embarrassed to show how overwhelmed and out of her element she feels]

[vytis]

Oh--maybe this one will suit you better? [Lithuania follows.] One step at a time is probably the best way to take--well, everything here.

[ourparadise]

Perhaps...Just a moment. [She takes a moment to speak with those standing near the guild and her face visibly relaxes. She takes a deep breath] This is the guild for merchants and scholars. No fighting required. [Little smile]

[vytis]

Do you think those would suit you? [Lithuania smiles, looking the guild over curiously.] I was never much good at sales myself.
