welcome to goldvale . intro post #1
It begins with a flash of blinding light.
No matter what they’re doing, the light is so stunning that they pause to shield their eyes. Logically, it seems like such a bright light would hurt their eyes, and yet somehow, it’s not painful at all. It’s strange, but stranger still, a moment later, the ground underneath them is gone. They’re falling, and it feels like they’re falling for a long time as their eyes adjust after that light.
Yet, it’s not long at all—they’re only falling five feet or so. But as they, and others, appear in the air, there’s a shriek of alarm.
“Beryl—Go!!”
A man’s voice shouts after the scream, and as their eyes adjust, they’ll see two blurry figures, the woman running away while the man briefly stands his ground with a dagger raised before he takes advantage of the confusion to flee as well and cover her. You, and all of the other disoriented strangers, have been left alone. There might be a few bruises from the fall, but otherwise, there are no new injuries. It’s a strange lobby, but nothing about it seems helpful to reveal where you are. Following the two figures is fruitless too, since the door at the end of that hallway is sealed shut with magic—no one will be able to pass through.
So, just where are you?

DISTRICT: Ironwall
The main entrance to Goldvale and the busiest district. Most shops are located here, but prices are much higher than the competing Nickelhollow marketplaces. However, it's much safer.

rion didn't think of himself as really... dangerous. look at him, all tiny, all nottalking, all... well. but he'd gotten what he needed, and in some ways maybe he was approaching this differently from other people.
he missed home. a lot. but at the same time, it was sort of like a new chance - a chance where he could do something awesome. knights? wizards? all that sort of stuff? super cool. it was like he was really in one of those RPGs he played on the playbox!!!
... the short version of this is that there is a boy barely topping 5'0" signing on with the warriors guild. or maybe he's trying to get weapons and whatnot; he seems to understand that he has a sword, and which end of it goes into the training dummy, but that's about it.
how did he even get here???]

But she spots the boy and can't help but approach him with her usual smile. With her hands behind her back, she tilts her head as she greets him.]
Hello! Are you not from this place either?
[Well, Estelle had observed him and figured out as much, but it's rude to just plain state that, right?]

As such, she wasn't doing much by way of trying to acquire information.. She's also not particularly paying attention to where she's going, too enamored in her plight, that she runs straight into a child (at least she thinks it's a child what a shortie) and stumbles back, nearly falling to the ground. ]
N—Nya..! [ give her a second to gather her bearings ] Oops, I'm sorry, little guy, I didn't see you there!

There's so many people, bustling around in this particular district, no one paying attention or offering any idea to where the misplaced nation might be. Iceland thinks it a mistake, coming here to be jostled around, but it seemed more appealing that one of the other areas, that wasn't nearly a well kept...
He absentmindedly forges ahead, not sure where he's going, until he spies several people carrying books. Books! Something Iceland loves dearly-- reading would be a welcome distraction, since there was only so much he could figure out about his stressful situation. So, with a bit more energy, although still somewhat hesitant, he pokes around, trying to ask where those books came from.
Most people ignore him, but he ultimately still ends up at his desired destination: The Salamander & Gold.
But now he's too nervous to enter. ]

Sui does have a destination of his own, tentatively-speaking, but -- surprisingly to him -- it's a little easier said than done. Navigating the crowd becomes a bit of an adventure when you've been accustomed to going right through them as far back as you care to remember.
And so: he manages to very nearly run over Iceland when jostled, catching himself at the last minute against the wall.]
Ah, pardon me. It's a little hard to spot impediments in this traffic.

He's wearing several bandages and has obviously had a bit of a rough time recently, but he's still dressed rather neatly in casual clothing from home, and he's smiling as he walks around.
Right, this is where he should try to make his fortune. But he doesn't seem to be actually going into any of the guilds he's looking around at, either.]

OPEN | Middle of the District
She pauses at each of the other guilds, wondering for a little what each is like inside before. The Steelarm is oddly reminiscent of home in atmosphere and buildings alike, and she inches closer to peek into the halls. The Seven Titans--that's the fighters guild, she remembers and she gives it a bit of a wide berth as she looks it over. Surely it's not as if the members of the guild are at all violent by nature and anyone can see she's not the type for the guild--and already in a guild on her own. It's just hard to imagine anyone living in there but rough fighters with whom she'd have nothing in common.
She looks around slowly. She has no idea where to go from here or what to even look for. She needs to find a guild.]
Does every guild fight? [She mumbled in exasperation]

While Yogi was use to being in different places all the time, this one in particular was different from the rest. As if the arrival wasn't enough indication, the strange and foreign objects he saw left the blond in a constant state of confusion. While everything was very new and exciting, he couldn't step away from his norm exactly.
And so this had left the nearly six foot male to come up from behind you and tap your shoulder. You'll help him out, won't you? Just ignore the fact that he looks like he's almost about to cry- ]

None of the others seemed to fit him, they were all too aggressive. The last guild he visited was The Salamander & Gold, while he didn't have high hopes for it from what he'd heard, the sprawling library in front of him told him that he'd found his calling.
And that was the end of that. They set him up with a room and a basic set of clothes, including a small broach with an amber coloured jewel that he liked to pin to his sleeve. For the next few days Latvia wondered around the building, trying to get used to it. He would often open the wrong doors and lose his way but in the end he always managed to find himself back in the library, not that he could complain.
It's likely that you've seen Latvia around the library or he's walked into your room by mistake. Even if he's a bit shy at first, he'll happily converse if you talk to him]

Now that he was free to look around without worrying about that little predicament, Dipper set his sights on a more important task. He needed information and he needed it now. He'd gone about talking to as many of the natives as he could. Luckily his age did him some favors for once and some of the natives were willing to talk. Not as much as he'd hoped but, it was something.
He can be found now around several different places, snooping, writing notes, or just exploring curiously. Feel free to call him out or stop him.]
Open to eeeveryone!
After finishing up the latest conversation, he bows his head thankfully and begins walking again, talking absently to himself as he ticks off fingers on his hand.]
So that's the Salamander and Gold, Steelarm, and Seven Titans... I dunno, Seven Titans sounds like it's probably my best bet, but it'll feel a little weird joining another group...
[His hand drops to rub at the red leather band on his left wrist. Really, this situation felt altogether too familiar; it was kind of like he'd skipped the first part of his introduction to Vision (Wayfinder Lau, The Cave of Trials, meeting Kee Keema-) and jumped right to the part where he needed to join up with a friendly organization so he could work with them and get lodging, food, and money when he needed it in return. It hadn't seemed exactly contrived when he first arrived in Vision, but now that it's his second time, it definitely feels kind of convenient.
...Not that he can exactly complain, either. If it weren't so convenient, he'd be in a whole lot of trouble right now. Well, more specifically, he'd probably be in jail. Again.]
...Well, it can't hurt to check them out, can it?
[As such, Wataru can be found hanging around the guilds and generally being pretty talkative around the NPCs, although he'll eye any obvious other newcomers with curiosity.]
